What began with lithium-ion cells soon evolved as battery technology advanced. As demand increased for safer, longer-lasting solutions, Fogstar expanded into LiFePO4 technology and eventually complete battery systems for leisure and energy storage applications.
Today, Fogstar supplies everything from LiFePO4 cells and DIY kits, to high-capacity battery systems, serving major international brands, commercial businesses and individuals across the UK and Europe.

Where It All Started
The story of Fogstar began with a frustrating problem.
After unknowingly purchasing counterfeit 18650 batteries on several occasions, Fogstar founder Ben Facer struggled to find a reliable source of genuine lithium-ion cells within the UK market. Rather than accept the risk, Ben began purchasing batteries directly from multiple suppliers and testing them himself.
Through this process he quickly learned how to identify authentic cells and recognise the warning signs of counterfeit products. It soon became clear that many vendors were unknowingly selling fake batteries, often without realising the safety implications involved.
Determined to solve the problem, Ben began sourcing batteries directly from manufacturers and importing them to the UK. Every batch was tested before being supplied to customers, helping to ensure that businesses and consumers finally had access to genuine lithium-ion cells they could trust.
This marked the beginning of Fogstar’s first phase of growth. Supplying authentic lithium-ion batteries to the UK market.
Raising the Standard for Battery Safety
As the business grew, Fogstar continued investing heavily in safety, testing and traceability.
In 2018, the team met with the UK Government to discuss the EU Battery Directive and explore how Fogstar could become a fully compliant supplier across both UK and European markets.
To achieve this, the company invested in specialised equipment and systems designed to improve traceability and product verification.
One of these developments was the introduction of a proprietary printing process that permanently marks lithium-ion cells with Fogstar identification. The system applies ink to the battery surface and bonds it using electricity, ensuring every cell supplied by Fogstar can be traced back to its origin.
Alongside this, the team launched EXOCELL, an online authentication and testing platform. Each battery is assigned a unique code that allows customers to verify the authenticity and test results of the cells they have purchased.
This became the first system of its kind, setting a new benchmark for transparency and traceability within the battery industry.
Expanding into LiFePO4 Technology
As the battery market continued to evolve, so did Fogstar.
In 2021, Fogstar partnered with EVE Energy to explore the supply of prismatic LiFePO4 cells to the UK market.
LiFePO4 technology quickly became the preferred choice for many applications thanks to its improved safety, longer lifespan and suitability for energy storage systems.
Fogstar expanded its product range to include high-quality LiFePO4 cells, giving customers access to the same level of testing, authenticity verification and reliability that had already built trust in the company’s lithium-ion supply.
This step marked Fogstar’s transition from a specialist cell supplier into a broader lithium battery technology provider.
Introducing Fogstar Drift
Demand in LiFePO4 batteries quickly proved to be significant, particularly from customers building their own off-grid systems, campervan setups and leisure battery installations.
Recognising this opportunity, Fogstar launched Fogstar Drift in 2022. A dedicated range of lithium leisure batteries designed to combine premium performance with exceptional value.
Fogstar Drift batteries are built using EVE Grade A prismatic cells, paired with advanced JBD battery management systems, Bluetooth monitoring and built-in heating for improved cold-weather performance.
The goal was simple. Deliver a high-quality leisure battery, with superior internal construction while remaining far more cost-effective than many existing options in the UK market.
Powering the Future of Energy Storage
Fogstar’s journey naturally progressed into solar energy storage.
As solar adoption accelerated across the UK, the demand for reliable and affordable home battery systems grew rapidly. Customers wanted high-capacity storage solutions without the traditionally high price tags.
In 2024, Fogstar developed and launched its first 15kWh energy storage battery, delivering one of the highest-specification systems available in the UK market while maintaining a far more accessible price point than many competing products.
The battery quickly gained industry recognition and was voted “Best for High-Usage Households” by the London Evening Standard in their “Best Solar Batteries in the UK” guide.
Since then, the range has continued to evolve. Fogstar now supplies a whole range of energy storage systems starting at 5kWh, through to 48.3kWh systems, and scalable all the way up to 1.23MWh for large residential, commercial and off-grid installations.
This modular approach allows customers to build energy storage systems that grow with their requirements, while maintaining the same focus on performance, reliability and value.
