Ardingly College have been working closely with the Eco Racing Team from Cambridge University on their second joint project, which is building an electric powered car to race 3,020km from Darwin to Adelaide in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. The Ardingly Solar Car Team are the first in Europe to design, build and race in this event.
In late 2016, Fogstar provided Ardingly College with 1,500 low drain 18650 cells which were put under vigorous testing by Cambridge University in order to characterise the cells we provided.
They confirmed that all the cells we provided were all so closely matched they couldn't find the difference between them. They were then tested for internal resistance and it was concluded they were all within 10 mAh of each other - with not a single dud cell. We are keeping in close contact with Ardingly on this project and look forward to the challenge being completed.
